Chiropractic treatment
Dr. Brent Ostrander uses manipulation and other treatments to align the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, to enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication.
Manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints restricted by injury; caused either by bad posture, a traumatic event, such as a vehicle accident, or repetitive stress. Chiropractic manipulation can provide pain relief for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue.
The treatments may involve one or more manual adjustments to improve range and quality of motion, and a suggested exercise treatment plan. Dr. Brent’s goal is to restore the natural function and motion of the musculoskeletal structure.
Spinal manipulation and chiropractic care is generally considered a safe, effective treatment for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other parts of the body – such as hips, knees, wrists, and ankles. Osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia may also benefit from chiropractic treatment.
Hip pain can derive from the structures within the hip joint or from the structures and ligaments surrounding the joint. Dr. Brent will create a personalized treatment plan that may include chiropractic adjustments, posture advice, and an exercise therapy, which will include stretching. The treatment is designed to reduce inflammation, relax any existing muscle spasms, strengthen weakened muscles, and improve the mobility of the joint.
Chiropractic adjustments are also effective in relieving sciatica, a common cause of pain in the hip and lower back, and in many cases have enabled patients to avoid surgery.
Chiropractic treatment may be the answer to knee problems, even if you have been told you have arthritis and there is nothing that can be done! However, pain can often be referred from the low back, pelvis and hip into the knee; if other joints are not working correctly they can put increased stress on the knee. To resolve the knee pain it may be also treat other areas, to maximize long-term improvement.
Wrists, elbows, ankles, and even extremities such as fingers and thumbs can benefit from chiropractic manipulation!
In all cases, your treatment will depend on the true cause of your problem. However, medications, both over-the-counter and prescription strength, may help dull or numb the pain, but they rarely fix the cause!
